Stepa Sirkovic

è nato nel 1932 a Drlupa presso Kosmaj. Dipinge dal 1948. Colpito da paralisi infantile e fin da bambino inchiodato al letto, non ha mai lasciato il suo villaggio, un abitato isolato e quasi senza contatti con il resto del mondo. La sua pittura, perciò, è tuttavia immersa nel mondo interiore psichico, ovvero rivolta alla rievocazione immaginaria di tutto ciò che la vita reale ha negato all'uomo-artista. Insiste ossessivamente nel dipingere i carri nunziali, gli attimi solenni delle nozze e delicati ritratti di fanciulle... Quello che dipinge, quindi, sono i sogni ad occhi aperti, i desideri inappagati...

Stricken with polio as a child and bedridden, he never left his village, an isolated town and almost no contact with the rest of the world. His painting, therefore, is however surrounded by the inner psychic world, which is given to the imaginary evocation of all that real life has denied to man-artist. Insists obsessively in painting wagons wedding, the solemn moments of the wedding and delicate portraits of young girls ... What paints, then, are the daydreams, desires unfulfilled ...
